The Protest

What started on May 26th with a small group of protestors in Minneapolis fed up with systemic racism and police brutality in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, quickly became an international movement spanning more than 400 cities and over 50 countries.

​

While the early days of the protest were marked with large scale looting and violence often provoked by heavy handed police tactics, after about a week the peaceful protestors began policing themselves and calling out any participants inciting violence or vandalism.

​

The message was clear.  The American people will no longer tolerate police violence against minorities and they will not allow this political statement to be poisioned by violence and chaos.

​

This movement is not seeking the destruction of the entire system, merely social and legislative justice that gives equals rights to all people, as they were promised in the Constitution.
